TITLE: Approaches to Agent Trust and Reputation

SPEAKER: Prof. Norman Foo

ABSTRACT: Trust between interacting agents is an aspect of multiagent
models that has become very relevant in the light of the present
international financial crisis. The root cause of the crisis has been
identified by many experts as the breakdown of trust. This talk will
begin with a brief survey of some approaches to modeling trust. Its
connection with reputation will be examined. Then we will address how
trust emerges, and how it and reputation can evolve in time. The role
of game theory, agent beliefs and social norms will be explained.
