thank you for the link you sent. What a coincidence! Yesterday @raphael during the LUGBZ Meeting told us about this initiative.
I would be very happy to participate with a setting like this:
- we find local companies that are decommissioning old W10 PCs because not compatible with W11
- we organize an event where we install all or part of the PCs with GNU/Linux
- the PCs can be tried and taken home by visitors (priority to students)
- we could involve the donors (companies) which could be interested to re-use some of their PCs trying a better OS than the old one with planned obsolescence.
- food & music
Other ideas? Who would like to participate?
Who is in contact with companies that are replacing their PCs?

Ich habe in Brixen im Jänner 2020 zum Ende von Windows7 eine Aktion gestartet, die dann wg Corona in anderer Form weiter lief.
Meine Gedanken zu endof10:
- möglichst im ganzen Land verteilt, muss nicht an einem Tag stattfinden.
- sollte medial gut unterstützt werden. Ich erreiche z.B. beim repairCafé in Brixen nur die Leute, die ins RepairCafé kommen, aber nicht die richtige Zielgruppe. Da braucht es noch gute Ideen
- Vielleicht eine eigene Website mit den ganzen Terminen und flyer mit qr-Code zur website ĂĽberall verteilen.
- Argumente fĂĽr Linux sammeln
- Unterschiedliche Wechselreize ansprechen: Umwelt, Datenschutz, Lock-in, keine BigTech füttern, …, eigenen Linux-PC mit nach Hause nehmen können

Neulich konnte ich zu diesem Thema mit David Hofmann sprechen um zu klären ob und wie beim Klimacamp 2025 in Latsch Freie Software und dieses Jahr speziell endof10 Thema sein kann.
Kurz gesagt, das Thema ist sehr willkommen. Da ich vom Klimacamp letztes Jahr positive Erfahrungen sammeln konnte, habe ich mich bereit erklärt, dort anwesend zu sein, ein paar PCs mit zu bringen, Installationen zeigen, Fragen zu Linux, Freier Software und sicheres Internet beantworten und Tipps zu Auswahl und Einstellungen von Programmen geben, um möglichst wenig persönliche Daten abzugeben.
Ich habe vor, an mindestens 2 der 3 Tage dort zu sein und hoffe, dass vom LUGBZ auch UnterstĂĽtzung kommt.
Recentemente ho avuto modo di parlare con David Hofmann di questo argomento per capire se e come il software libero, e in particolare Endof10, possa essere un tema del Klimacamp 2025 a Laces.
In breve, l’argomento è stato accolto molto positivamente.
Dato che l’anno scorso ho avuto un’esperienza positiva al Klimacamp, mi sono dichiarato disponibile a partecipare, a portare alcuni PC, a mostrare le installazioni, a rispondere a domande su Linux, sul software libero e sulla sicurezza in Internet e a dare consigli sulla scelta e la configurazione dei programmi per ridurre al minimo la divulgazione dei dati personali.
Ho intenzione di essere presente almeno due dei tre giorni e spero che anche il LUGBZ mi dia il suo sostegno.
L’anno scorso eravamo in due per un giorno … quest’anno, spero, possiamo portare anche il roll-up LUGBZ
Al prossimo Direttivo di giugno proporro’ “il sostegno ufficiale LUGBZ”, “a condizione che siamo almeno in tre ad essere presenti al Klimacamp” …
