FOSDEM 2026 and side events in Brussels

Hi LUGBZ Friends,

is anyone else from the LUGBZ planning to attend FOSDEM[1]? If so, let me know, it would be great to meet up for a trink during the weekend in Brussels.

Btw. there are side events[2], including a FOSDEM PGDAY for Postgres lovers :wink:

great! Let’s try to get in touch in Brussels.

Now, I am asking myselfe which chat platform we could suggest to be used during FOSDEM. I will be there with a group of 6 people from NOI Techpark. And we will for sure meet people of FSFE, ILS and other groups. It would be useful to have a chat room somewhere.

Maybe Matrix/Element?

Do you have any suggestion?

Honestly I don’t have much experience about privacy-friendly chats. Matrix/Element for me is ok, since I made the account when I participated at hackathon. However, if you mean bigger chats, I’m in contact with PNLug. I asked them if they would have attended FOSDEM, and they added me in the FOSDEM italian group in telegram. If you are interested I can add you, I saw I can add users to the group. Furthermore I will meet people from Padova, who I will have the flight with.

ohh, I didn’t know there is a FOSDEM italian group in telegram. Please add me.

At the moment a small group from NOI is experimenting with Talk by NextCloud, but fro now only internally. Maybe we will be able to open it up also for users external to our organization.
