OMAKUB, a developer setup for Ubuntu 24.04, by DHH

Maybe I don’t agree with all the tools that DHH has selected, but the idea of installing and configuring everything with a simple script is great. Of course everything is customizable and someone can actually fork the script and adapt it to his taste, if he wants to.

Up to a couple of years ago DHH was a Mac user, then he switched to Linux and had to figure out which tools to use and how to setup them properly for his taste. As all the great guys do, he didn’t just solve the problem once, but made the solution reproducible, automating it with scripts, for the benefit of himself (of course), but sharing his solution with other people too.

By the way, DHH is the creator of Ruby-on-Rails, which is the framework on which Discourse (this forum) is built on. I didn’t know about him until I listened to this podcast:
