Summer course: Linux Commands and Bash Scripting

Dear LUGBZ fellows,

I am trying to start a Linux course based on these lessons:

The course is going to start on the 1st of August and will last for about
5-6 weeks, 3 lessons a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), from 18:00 to
19:00.

I know this is not an optimal time, due to summer vacations, but maybe some
people might still be interested in taking it.

The registration can be done here:
https://tickets.fs.al/dashohoxha/linux-cli/

The fee of the course is 40 EUR, but if you are a member of LUGBZ you get
it for half the price.

If you are not yet a registered member of LUGBZ, you can follow the
instructions at this page to become a member:

After your membership is confirmed, you can ask Andreas Christanell (
andreas.christanell(a)lugbz.org) for a voucher that allows you to register
with half the price.

Best regards,
Dashamir

Great! I think real Linux users should not only move the mouse over
graphical interfaces, but also understand what they are doing. This also
includes a certain understanding of the possibilities of the terminal
and the bash interpreter.

Maybe that's why no one replied to my mail of 6/29 "puzzle".

Great! I think real Linux users should not only move the mouse over
graphical interfaces, but also understand what they are doing. This also
includes a certain understanding of the possibilities of the terminal and
the bash interpreter.

For the case of Linux, the command-line interface is much more powerful
than the desktop interface. This means that with commands you can do
everything that can be done from the graphical interface, often much more
efficiently, but you can also do many other things that are not even
possible from the graphical interface.

Another thing is that a powerful user should also know how to manage a
headless server, for example a small VPS on the cloud or a Raspberry Pi.
This is useful for installing services for yourself, and maybe for your
family and friends as well. For example installing a wiki, or NextCloud, or
Snikket, etc. You definitely need some command line skills to do this.

What makes CLI even more powerful is the ability to write scripts that can
automate and simplify the most common tasks.

Maybe that's why no one replied to my mail of 6/29 "puzzle".

If you set a price for the first one that gives the correct answer, maybe
some people will be interested in solving it

In the past, the word "puzzle" was enough to arouse interest, but today
it obviously needs a reward.

The reward is the knowledge gained by solving the puzzle. Of course,
this does not apply to everyone, but only to those who use dd to copy an
.iso file onto a stick.

With this additional hint, the solution is even easier to find. If there
is to be a prize, I offer the first person who writes me the correct
solution directly a meeting in my garden, depending on the weather, with
organic ice cream from the farmer or home-baked wholemeal bread with a
spread from the garden.

ok!

I strongly recommend the course, which I took part last year. I bought
also the book: "The Linux Commandline" , if somebody between Bozen and
Naturns is interested in the book during the course, please let me know.

Best regards
Andreas

I confirm: this book about command line in Linux is one of the best I did
use and Dashamir is a very nice, pacient and well prepared teacher.
