Workshop: Introduction to GSoC

Google Summer of Code is a mentorship program for university students, sponsored by Google. University students have the opportunity to work with an open source organization, on a 12+ week programming project, under the guidance of mentors. They will spend the summer in a fun and meaningful way, making new friends, getting some experience, and also getting payed (if they complete the project requirements successfully).

Are you a university student? Are you new to open source and want to learn more about some interesting projects that you can contribute to? You should definitively give a try to GSoC.

This workshop intends to help you with getting started, answer any questions you might have, etc. The speaker (Dashamir Hoxha) has been a mentor in GSoC a few years ago and is willing to share his knowledge and experience with you.

There are 195 open source organizations participating this year in GSoC. The application period is starting on March 18 (see the timeline). There is no time to loose.
